EBI Gate 200 is a PLC controlled level crossing system designed as a total overlay system for footpaths, bridleways and user worked crossings, totally independent from the existing railway infrastructure. In addition to thisEBI Gate 200 can be configured as either a fully 'on demand' system or a 'fully automatic' system offering complete flexibility.
Train detection within the block section is accomplished using full axle counter techniques which determine when it is safe for a crossing user to traverse the railway lines. Therefore the system does not just detect the presence of train we fully count the train in/out of the relevant block section. The benefit of using fully axle counting is that during engineering works around the crossing area there is no requirement to manually restore the system as it has auto restore functionality, which means the first train through the crossing area will restore the system to operational status.
EBI Gate 200 in now significantly more sophisticated from the early design concept in 2009, with continual data logging, reduced deployment restrictions and the ability to remove restrictive timers. One of the enhancements to the EBI Gate 200 solution is a more robust auto-restore function that utilises the full axle counting feature of the EBI Gate. Therefore the system does not just detect the presence of a train but also fully counts the train in and out of the relevant block section and detects the direction the train is travelling.
